The 2003 winner of the International Festival de Cancion in Latina Americana, has also recorded 3 CDs of romantic boleros and mariachi songs.
Born in Mexico City, he now resides on the West Coast of the USA, where he has been tenor soloist in three different presentations of Mozart’s Requiem with San José State University, California.
Pedro Ledesma studied at the Mexican National Conservatory of Music with Enrique Jaso and later continued his studies with Susan Young and Carlos Serrano in Puerto Rico and Philadelphia. He studied for three years with Paul Spencer Adkins, also in the Philadelphia area and at present is working with Iris Frasier in Palo Alto, California.
He recently completed his third CD – a collection of popular Mariachi selections. His second CD – Sentimientos – a selection of Mexican romantic boleros – has had considerable success locally and has received air time at a number of radio stations in the Bay area. Pedro has been tenor soloist in three different presentations of the Mozart Requiem presented by the San Jose State University.
Last December he was featured in the Bruckner Te Deum and the Faure Cantique de Jean Racine presented at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in San Jose. He has been active in several presentations of the University’s Opera Workshop and took part in Opera San Jose’s production of Verdi’s Rigoletto. Pedro was soloist in two performances of Ramirez’s Misa Criolla in Salinas, California. In addition to his classical performances, Pedro is accomplished in other genres of music and has been featured singer in the Mexican Heritage Corporation Christmas programs as well as in the San Jose International Mariachi Festivals.
In July, 2003 he was the winner in the International Festival de la Cancion Latina Americana in San Francisco and performs frequently at other events in the Bay area.
Pedro has appeared in several recitals in the Philadelphia area. He recently performed on the Ocean City Pops Summer series and was a featured performer at a recent Wednesday Evening musical presentation at the Philadelphia Art Museum.
